Our services

Care for your loved one, from the moment of death to the final earth.

Al-Maghfirah Cemetery is approved for both cemetery and funeral services. Everything is carried out in compliance with Minnesota law and Islamic requirements.

Status

The cemetery is under construction and not yet performing burials. Until the Masjid & Ghusl Center opens, call 612-919-5410 — we will help you with guidance, pre-planning and coordination with local masjids and funeral homes.

Burial & funeral services

We are committed to serving the Muslim community in Minnesota with dignity, compassion and adherence to Islamic tradition. Our burial services honor the deceased and support families through every step.

  • Complete Islamic burial following traditional rites — ghusl, kafan and burial
  • Preparation rooms and a hall for Salat al-Janazah
  • Grave plot selection and burial coordination
  • Support and guidance for families during difficult times

Our goal is a respectful, seamless experience that upholds the sacred responsibilities of burial in accordance with Islamic principles.

Pre-planning & reserved plots

Planning ahead is a thoughtful and compassionate act that eases the burden on loved ones in a time of grief. Pre-planning lets individuals and families make informed decisions in advance, so their wishes are respected and arrangements follow Islamic tradition.

  • Selecting and reserving a burial plot
  • Documenting your burial preferences
  • Cost clarity and financial planning options
  • Peace of mind, knowing your affairs are in order

By taking care of these decisions early, you give comfort and guidance to your family when they need it most.

Transportation

Reliable and respectful transportation for the deceased. Whether local or out of state, we coordinate the secure transfer of your loved one to the cemetery for burial, following Islamic guidelines every step of the way.

  • Local and long-distance transport
  • Coordination with hospitals, funeral homes and masjids
  • Timely, respectful handling from pick-up to final resting place

We are here to make this process as smooth and dignified as possible for your family.

On-site facilities

Phase 2 brings everything a family needs onto the cemetery grounds, in a building designed by LSE Architects specifically for Islamic funerals.

  • Ghusl rooms for washing and shrouding the deceased
  • Prayer hall for Salat al-Janazah
  • Community hall for families and condolences
  • Administrative offices, restrooms and paved parking

The funeral center is under construction; parking, roads and the burial grounds are complete.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Is Al-Maghfirah Cemetery open for burials yet?

Not yet. Phase 1 (burial grounds, roads, parking and stormwater) was completed in June 2025, and the construction contract for Phase 2 — the Masjid & Ghusl Center — was signed in July 2026. Burials will begin once the center is finished, in sha’ Allah. Call us and we will guide you to the options available today.

Who can be buried at Al-Maghfirah?

The cemetery is exclusively for Muslims. Burial practices and land use follow the teachings of Islam and the consensus of the major schools of thought.

Where is the cemetery?

1120 220th St W, Farmington, MN 55024, in Castle Rock Township, Dakota County — about 35 minutes south of Minneapolis–St. Paul. Paved parking is available on site.

Can I reserve a plot for my family in advance?

Yes. Pre-planning lets you reserve space, document your preferences and settle costs ahead of time. Contact us at 612-919-5410 or info@maghfirahcemetery.org to start.

Do you help with ghusl, kafan and the janazah prayer?

Yes. Al-Maghfirah is approved for both cemetery and funeral services. Ghusl, shrouding and Salat al-Janazah will be performed on site once the center opens, and we coordinate with masjids and funeral homes in the meantime.

What should I do when a loved one passes away?

Call us at 612-919-5410. We will help you coordinate with a funeral home experienced in Muslim burials and with your masjid, and walk you through each step. Our janazah guide also explains the prayers and etiquette of burial.
