Phase One complete — and fully paid for by the community
Al-Maghfirah completed Phase One in June 2025: roads, parking and burial grounds, with 5,000 burial lots prepared on 5 acres — funded by the community with $1.4 million.
After years of planning, legal challenges and delays, Phase One of Al-Maghfirah Cemetery was completed in June 2025 — and funded in full: $1.4 million contributed by Minnesota’s Muslim community.
Phase One prepared the grounds themselves:
- Burial grounds — 5,000 burial lots prepared on 5 acres
- Internal cemetery roads and paved parking
- Stormwater management, including a stormwater pond, and essential site improvements
- Hundreds of evergreen trees planted as a natural boundary
Earthwork and grading started in March 2025. The asphalt base was laid in June, after crews poured concrete and hauled in materials for the stormwater pond. In May 2025 LSE Architects presented the design for the funeral center, the building that became Phase Two.
What comes next
The grounds are ready. What remains is the Masjid & Ghusl Center, where families will wash, shroud and pray over their loved ones before burial. Construction is now under way.
Your gift. A lasting legacy.
Every gift helps complete the Masjid & Ghusl Center and open the gates for Muslim families — a lasting Waqf, and an everlasting reward.
